The plot takes place during the second age of Middle-earth, a pivotal period that saw the development of the power rings and the ascent and fall of Sauron. This is the most expensive television program ever produced, costing Amazon in the neighborhood of $1 billion. My fingers get a faint tickle. Five seasons are planned, with the first one premiering on September 2, 2022. Buckle up, because it might very well become the TV event of our time.
